Manufacturing Process CERAMIS® films are manufactured in a high vacuum process. The evaporation material consists of the natural components silicon and sand. No solvents or other chemicals, which could result in harmful emissions to the environment, are used during the production process. Furthermore, SiOx coating does not affect the recyclability of films. Also, stress on the environment during the recycling process is minimised since SiOx coated films are free of chlorine and other unwanted elements. Use of Renewable Resources We have carried out an extensive market research in order to find out possibilities of applying SiOx coating on films made from renewable resources. PLA films have proven to be suitable base films. Due to the further development of our coating technology we are able to coat also these special films in an environmentally friendly process. The results are our innovative, biodegradable CERAMIS®-PLA films with excellent barrier properties. |
